A blackhead is basically an enlarged hair follicle which gets filled with dead skin cells, bacteria, and oil often capped by a blackened mass of skin debris. It mainly occurs due to excess secretion of oil from the oil glands in the faces mainly on the nose and this oil is natural and necessary to protect and lubricate the skin, but when excess dead skin cells are present, this can block the flow of oil and cause the build-up which turns into blackheads and other forms of acne.
